The National Dialogue Quartet of Tunisia receives the Nobel Peace Prize 2015 for its outstanding contribution to the building of a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution of 2011. What a great inspiration for promoting and spreading peace and democracy!

In December 2013, a deal was concluded to ask the Islamist government to step down, a caretaker government to take over and to implement elections for President and Parliament to occur in late November 2014. During these discussions, the Quartet played an active role which was considered quite important to the success of these talks.

The National Dialogue Quartet was formed in summer 2013 of four organizations in Tunisian civil society:
– The Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT, Union Générale Tunisienne du Travail)
– The Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA, Union Tunisienne de l’Industrie, du Commerce et de l’Artisanat)
– The Tunisian Human Rights League (LTDH, La Ligue Tunisienne pour la Défense des Droits de l’Homme)
– The Tunisian Order of Lawyers (Ordre National des Avocats de Tunisie).

Which effects might this Nobel Peace Prize have for the renewal process of the Islamic world?
